Yellowstone National Park: Day One

Warning - Heavy Photo Post Ahead!

Kepler Cascades - this was our first stop on the way to Old Faithful. It was right off the road and easy to get to. It's a gorgeous waterfall despite it's small stature.

Mystic Falls - It was hard to capture the beauty of this waterfall. It was gorgeous! The waterfall continued downward into a river that continued westward. This waterfall was right off the road and easy to walk to.

The Springs at Old Faithful - I sadly didn't get a picture of Old Faithful going off. My husband did however. It is quite hard to get a capture off because you have to take the picture the second it goes off. Plus moving water is a little hard taking pictures of with your phone.

Lower Geyser Basin - This was a gorgeous spot! It was filled with more hot springs and geysers. It sure looked like another planet with the way the minerals, soil, and water mixed with one another.

We went to Yellowstone National Park from July 13-15th. I was invited to my best friend's wedding back home in Wyoming and it was the perfect time to make a vacation out of it. We also made time to go visit my Dad in Pinedale and show Ryan where I grew up!
It was fun to come back to Yellowstone because the last time I went there was for a Geology Trip during my Freshman year of College - and that was over 10 years ago.

If you have never been there and are looking to go there in the future. Here are some tips:

  • Bring a jacket. It gets down to the 40s in the evening and it's chilly in the morning.
  • Keep a map of Yellowstone with you because there is no cell signal in the park. If you have Verizon it may work in some areas.
  • Bring food and water. There are plenty of places to eat in Yellowstone but the restaurants are far apart from each other. So make sue you bring snacks!
  • Wear comfortable and appropriate footwear. Please no sandals or heels. You are in nature people.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures! Next post will consist of pictures from Mammoth Hot Springs, Canyon Falls, and the northern part of Yellowstone National Park.

Have you ever been to Yellowstone? If so, what did you see and what did you think of it?
